Meet the Instructors
A Father-and-Son Team Built for Youth Baseball and Softball
Private Lessons is a family-run instruction business led by Dennis Wilson and his son Cameron. Together, they bring personalized, youth-focused coaching to players across North Dallas — combining technology, occasional video, rhythm, feel, and clear explanations so every athlete understands not just what to do, but why it matters.
Head Instructor & Founder
Dennis Wilson
Dennis is the founder of Private Lessons and an experienced baseball and softball instructor serving families across North Dallas, including Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, Richardson, Murphy, Princeton, and surrounding communities. He brings years of playing and coaching experience at competitive levels, with a dedicated focus on youth athletes ages 8–13. His coaching credentials and organizational affiliations will be listed here once verified.
Dennis specializes in:
- Hitting instruction
- Pitching instruction
- Catching instruction
- Fielding and defensive skills
- Player development for ages 8–13
Dennis believes every athlete should understand not just what to do, but why each movement matters. He builds lessons around the principles of rhythm, timing, feel, and athletic movement — ensuring that when a player steps away from the cage, they carry real understanding with them. His coaching style is encouraging, knowledgeable, and grounded in the idea that confident players are players who get the why.
Dennis uses technology and video selectively — when it meaningfully helps a player see, understand, or reinforce a concept. His goal is always clarity and connection, not complexity. No gadget-first approach here: the player's feel and understanding always come first.
Instructor
Cameron Wilson
Cameron is Dennis's son and a co-instructor at Private Lessons. He grew up in the game and brings his own recent playing experience — through youth, high school, and beyond — directly into every session. [Cameron's playing background and coaching experience — insert verified details here.] His path into coaching is a natural extension of the family mission: making youth athletes better by helping them truly understand how and why they move. Because Cameron's own playing days aren't far behind him, he connects naturally with younger athletes in a way that's both credible and relatable.
Cameron specializes in:
- Hitting instruction
- Fielding and defensive skills
- Throwing mechanics
- Age-appropriate fundamentals for beginners and developing players
Cameron's coaching style is energetic, patient, and athlete-centered. Because of his own recent playing experience, he connects naturally with youth athletes — meeting them where they are and explaining skills in ways that make sense to younger players. His sessions balance fundamentals with fun, ensuring athletes stay engaged and leave each lesson with clear takeaways.
Cameron brings a younger coach's perspective — he remembers what it felt like to learn these movements, and he uses that empathy to keep lessons encouraging and relatable. Like Dennis, he uses technology and occasional video when they add real value, always keeping the focus on the player's feel and understanding.
What Every Lesson at Private Lessons Looks Like
Whether you work with Dennis or Cameron, every session is guided by the same core commitments — because we believe the how and the why matter just as much as the result.
Youth-First Instruction
Every drill, adjustment, and explanation is designed for the way young athletes learn and grow.
Understanding the Why
We don't just tell players what to do. We explain why each movement matters, so athletes carry the lesson beyond the cage.
Technology as a Tool, Not the Answer
We use technology and video selectively — when they genuinely help a player see, understand, or reinforce a concept. Rhythm, timing, and feel always come first.
Safe and Encouraging Environment
Every athlete deserves a space where they can ask questions, make mistakes, and build real confidence.
Baseball and Softball, Both
Dennis and Cameron instruct in both baseball and softball, with equal attention and skill-specific knowledge for each sport.
Private Lessons exists to help youth athletes understand how and why they move — and to make that understanding stick long after the lesson ends.
