Personalized Softball Coaching — Not Another Clinic

Private softball lessons with Dennis and Cameron are designed for players ages 8–13 — from beginners picking up the game for the first time to competitive travel players looking to sharpen specific skills. Every session is one-on-one or in a small group, so your athlete gets individual attention, not a rotation through generic stations.

Team practices focus on the group. Generic clinics move fast and cover too much at once. Private instruction with Dennis and Cameron focuses entirely on your athlete — their mechanics, their habits, their questions. Adjustments are explained so players understand why a change matters, creating buy-in that lasts beyond the lesson.

Dennis and Cameron coach both baseball and softball. When you book a softball lesson, your instructor brings softball-specific context — pitch recognition, circle mechanics, slap hitting, catching positioning, and the subtle differences in footwork and throwing angles that matter at the youth level.

Softball Skills Covered in Every Session

From hitting mechanics to defensive footwork, each lesson focuses on the skills your athlete needs most — always with clear explanations of why each movement creates better results.

Hitting mechanics

Hitting Mechanics & Bat Path

A clean bat path and repeatable swing mechanics give hitters consistency at the plate. We work on load, hip rotation, hand path, and contact point — and explain exactly how each piece connects to hitting the ball harder and more often.

Pitch recognition

Pitch Recognition & Plate Discipline

Knowing when to swing — and when not to — is as important as the swing itself. We develop a player's ability to read pitch spin, location, and timing so they compete with more confidence in every at-bat.

Pitching fundamentals

Pitching Fundamentals & Delivery

Windmill mechanics, stride consistency, wrist snap, and hip drive all contribute to velocity, accuracy, and long-term arm health. We teach the delivery as a connected, athletic movement — not a checklist.

Catching mechanics

Catching Mechanics & Blocking

A catcher who frames cleanly, blocks low pitches, and throws with accuracy is a game-changer. We cover receiving, footwork, blocking fundamentals, and the mental reads catchers make every pitch.

Fielding and footwork

Fielding & Footwork

Getting to the ball is half the play. We work on first-step reads, approach angles, transfer speed, and the footwork habits that turn routine plays into automatic outs — in the infield, outfield, and at every position.

Throwing and positioning

Throwing & Defensive Positioning

Throwing mechanics directly affect both accuracy and arm health. We cover grip, arm path, hip-shoulder separation, and follow-through — plus the positional awareness that helps players know where to be before the ball is hit.

What Happens During a Softball Lesson

Every session follows a clear, purposeful structure — so your athlete arrives knowing what to work on and leaves understanding why it matters.

1. Warm-Up & Movement Prep
Every lesson starts with an active warm-up that prepares the body for softball-specific movements. This isn't filler — we use the warm-up to observe your athlete's natural movement patterns and identify what to prioritize in the session.

2. Skill Focus & Instruction
The core of each lesson targets the skill area your athlete needs most. Dennis or Cameron introduces the concept, explains the why behind the adjustment or drill, and demonstrates before your player works through it. Clear language over jargon — always.

3. Drill-Based Practice & Feedback
Repetition with purpose. Athletes work through targeted drills while their instructor provides real-time feedback. When technology or video adds meaningful clarity — a swing path, a release point, a footwork pattern — we'll use it. When it doesn't add value, we don't force it.

4. Debrief & Takeaway
Every lesson closes with a short debrief. The athlete reviews what they worked on, why it matters, and what to focus on before the next session. The goal is for your player to leave with a clear understanding they can apply on their own.

Technology Is a Tool. Feel Is the Foundation.

We use feedback tools and video when they help — when a player needs to see their swing path, understand their release point, or confirm that a mechanical change is actually happening the way it feels. Technology used at the right moment creates clarity that words alone can't deliver.

But data and devices don't tell the whole story. Rhythm, timing, feel, and athletic instinct are what make a softball player perform under pressure in a real game. A swing that looks right on a screen still has to feel right in the box. A pitcher who chases numbers can lose the natural delivery that made her effective. We never let the tool replace the athlete.

Every adjustment we make is grounded in athletic movement — not just mechanical correction. When we introduce a drill or a change, your athlete will understand why it connects to better performance on the field. That understanding is what makes the work stick.

No gadget-first coaching. No robotic mechanics. Just clear, purposeful instruction that respects how athletes actually move.

Softball Lesson FAQs

Answers to the questions parents ask most — so you can make the right decision for your athlete.

  • What equipment should my athlete bring to a softball lesson?

Players should bring their own glove, batting helmet, and bat if they have one. Cleats or athletic shoes are recommended. Dennis and Cameron have training equipment on hand — you don't need to bring balls, tees, or training aids unless specifically requested.
  • How long is a typical softball lesson?

Most individual lessons run 60 minutes. Session length can be discussed when you request a lesson — shorter introductory sessions may be available for younger or newer players.
  • Do you work with beginners? My daughter has never played organized softball.

Absolutely. Dennis and Cameron work with players at every experience level, including complete beginners. Early lessons focus on the fundamentals — grip, stance, basic mechanics — and build from there at your athlete's pace.
  • How do I schedule a softball lesson?

Use the Request a Lesson form on the Contact page. You'll share basic information about your athlete, the skills they want to work on, and your general availability. Dennis or Cameron will follow up to confirm a time and location.
  • Are small-group softball lessons available?

Yes. Small-group sessions work well for teammates, siblings, or friends who want to train together. Group format, pricing, and availability can be discussed when you reach out.
  • What happens if it rains or weather is a problem?

Outdoor lessons affected by weather are rescheduled at no penalty. Dennis and Cameron communicate proactively about conditions and work with families to find a makeup time that fits. Indoor options may be available depending on location.
  • Will my daughter improve right away?

We don't make guarantees about immediate or specific outcomes — and you should be skeptical of anyone who does. What we do promise: age-appropriate instruction, clear explanations, purposeful drills, and an environment where your athlete understands what she's working on and why. Improvement follows consistent effort and focused practice.
